The goal of the departmental systems is to provide integrated computer applications focused on meeting departmental needs and requirements for maintaining accurate financial records. Using the Departmental Financial Systems' applications, departments may prepare their yearly budget; prepare and track budget amendment and personnel documents; review accounting information and integrate cost center information; and review financial data for major data structures under the VP for Business and Finance. Hands-on training classes are offered on a regular basis as part of the normal series of computer skills classes available through the University's Training and Development Department. You may also contact the support line at 542-6763 or via e-mail to DFS.
Departmental Financial Systems developed and supports the following applications:
Administrative Report Retrieval Over The Web (ARROW)- is a web interface to a library of commonly requested administrative reports. With ARROW, you can review up-to-date financial information from the central administrative server quickly and easily. Using just a web browser, users can customize the information to be retrieved, browse the information on-line, then print or export the report in a variety of popular formats. With three easy steps, a vast amount of information is available, whenever and wherever it is needed.
Personnel & Budget Amendment - is a web-based system for preparing and budget amendment and personnel documents for signature and routing. This is currently a paper-based system and information is only maintained in the system while the documents are being prepared and routed. Documents disappear from the Budget Amendment system when the document has been entered into the mainframe; therefore this system is not required and may be used intermittently if desired. The only software required to run the Budget Amendment System is a web browser and a small plug-in to view reports.
Budget Development System - is a web-based system intended to assist department and division heads in establishing their original yearly budget including salary determination, salary distribution, and non-personal services budgeting. Budget Development data is then transferred from the WebDFS Budget Development System into mainframe budget tables. Users may print a variety of reports, as well as the official budgetary worksheets. The only software required to run the Budget Amendment System is a web browser and a small plug-in to view reports.
Departmental Accounting -- is a web-based system for classifying expenditures and encumbrances into categories other than the 12-digit or 17-digit university account number. Please contact Departmental Financial Systems at 542-6763 if you are interested in using this application in your department.
